Islamabad (Monday, August 2025): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched 10 million digital wallets under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), terming it a landmark step towards financial inclusion and a cashless economy.
The initiative aims to:

Ensure transparent and secure disbursement of financial assistance.

Empower low-income families, especially women beneficiaries.

Prevent fraud through CNIC and biometric verification.

Provide 10 million free SIM cards in collaboration with Jazz/Mobilink.
At the ceremony attended by ministers, BISP leadership, and global partners, PM Shehbaz said the digital system would empower families with safe access to support and strengthen poverty alleviation efforts.
BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid stated that linking support to women’s CNICs ensures their recognition and inclusion, continuing the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Digital literacy training will also be provided to help women effectively use their wallets.
The Prime Minister concluded that Pakistan was “not just disbursing aid but empowering citizens to contribute to the nation’s future.”

وزیر اعظم نے کہا کہ پاکستان اب صرف امداد تقسیم نہیں کر رہا بلکہ ایک ایسی قوم تیار کر رہا ہے جو تعمیرِ وطن میں کردار ادا کرے گی۔
